Unfortunately, due to rising Covid-19 cases within the Church community as well as our area at large, we have made the difficult decision to alter our Christmas plans as follows:
- Midnight Service this evening (24th December) is cancelled
- Christmas Morning services at Ashington and Washington cancelled
- Zoom Connect session at 10am Christmas Morning
- Wiston will hold a brief outdoor service.
Although it currently appears that this variant has less severe symptoms, we are keen to ensure that families’ plans for this festive season are not ruined as a result of further transmission.
At the end of the day, we know that what Isaiah prophesied long ago is still what we celebrate tomorrow:
“For a child has been born for us,
a son given to us;
authority rests upon his shoulders;
and he is named
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
His authority shall grow continually,
and there shall be endless peace
for the throne of David and his kingdom.
He will establish and uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time onward and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.”
– Isaiah 9:6-7
The beauty and wonder of Christmas is wrapped up in this: the fact that the God of the universe humbled Himself to the form of a baby, entered our world and came close to us. Not only to save us, but to be with us. This Christmas, we pray that you and your loved ones would not only enjoy each other’s company, but that you would know the transformative, healing closeness of Jesus.
