Get involved with one of our teams…
Hosting Teams are a great way to start participating in church life, make new friends and have fun!
The teams prepare for the running of services, both practically and spiritually and are the first point of contact, a welcoming face as you enter church, as well as serving refreshments. If you have a gift for hospitality, we’d love to hear from you.

Worship Team (Musicians, intercessors, songwriters)
Worship is at the heart of all that we do, as we lift our gaze to the Lord. Skilled musicians who lead the people of God into His throne room are a key part of our ministry.
Prayer ministry plays an important part in each service as we seek to seal what the Spirit of God is doing in people’s lives. From time to time we run training sessions to equip us in praying for others. If you would like to be notified of upcoming dates, please get in touch.
We set the highest value in our children’s and youth ministries. To explore being part of the team, it is essential to love Jesus and be seeking His Kingdom, to be a good team player, and have an up to date enhanced DBS check and to adhere to our safeguarding policy.

Our heart for serving on the youth team is to get alongside our young people on their level and help them to experience the fullness of God’s kingdom so they can be fully equipped to be the church of today and tomorrow, to change the world. We have found that serving and investing into our young people is a huge honour but also a mutually encouraging experience for our leaders. Practically, this could be serving on a Sunday morning in our youth sessions that run during morning church services, supporting our youth as they grow in their worship gifting or helping to lead one of our youth nights, Set the Fire services or social events!
Our two community cafés, Church Lane Café at Ashington every Tuesday afternoon in termtime, and School Lane Café at Washington on the 2nd & 4th Wednesday afternoons of the month. Our Café’s offer a space to connect with others, enjoy delicious home made cakes with a selection of teas or coffee. There are toys and activities for the children. Both cafés welcome new volunteers either to bake cakes, or to help in the Cafe.

Older People’s Ministry
The Older People’s Ministry is provided by members of Ashington Church who serve in the community, supporting the Village Wardens and other local volunteers.
The aim of the team is to support, promote and develop social contact for older people. We help with Ashington Village Lunch Club; the Monthly Vintage Tea, Monday afternoon games sessions during winter months; provision of three trained minibus drivers who help with lifts to social events and shopping trips; providing transport to Church Lane Café, for the Thursday morning Communion Service, as well as hospital/medical visits and some social visiting. We arrange and organise an older men’s group, having 4 or 5 outings during the year to various venues such as aeronautical and motor museums. A DBS check is required.
