Church schools

As a church community, we love joining in with our local school communities, championing and supporting the children, families and staff on their faith journey. We are thankful that we have strong links to our two parish Church of England primary schools, Ashington C of E School, and St Mary’s Washington C of E School.

A team from the church join in with their weekly collective worship (assemblies), host annual prayer spaces, assist with RE lessons, lead their end of term Church services and other events throughout the school year.

Ashington CE School

The school’s Christian vision (‘Love never Fails’ – 1 Corinthians 13) is the golden thread that provides the context of everything done at Ashington CE school. Children are encouraged to live out this vision in all that they do and say every day. The clear vision and values enable children to make decisions and choices every day, which will ultimately help them to lead a happy, successful life –  flourishing spiritually, academically, socially and emotionally.

Mrs Adele Buck was appointed as Head Teacher in 2024. With a vast teaching and leadership experience in church schools, her energy and aspiration for Ashington school has been warmly welcomed, building upon the strong foundation of the previous decades. She has a particular passion for Early Years and nurturing a holistic development of our children, propelling them onto the next stages of their lives, flourishing and resilient.

Vision: “Education for life in it’s fullness” – John 10:10

“Our school vision enables every member of our school community to flourish.  We underpin all we do within our five aspirational core Christian values (service, teamwork, ambition, resilience, and self-control – S.T.A.R.S). These are taught within the context of Christian beliefs and practice, supporting the spiritual development as well as the emotional, moral, social, cultural, physical and academic development of each unique individual, enabling everyone to experience life in its fullness.”

Head Teacher: Mrs Keeley Houston. Keeley is passionate about education and inspiring young hearts and minds to become lifelong learners. Keeley has been a teacher for over 20 years and has worked mostly in the Primary sector.
