Steyning Grammar School
Steyning Grammar School is over 400 years old and is the largest Church of England School in the country and the largest state secondary school in the South East. It also has state boarding houses and ranges over three sites across the South Downs – what a mission field.
From 3-7th November 2025 Neill Stannard, the Chaplain at Steyning Grammar School invited a group of churches in West Sussex to join in running a five-day ‘Mission Week’ in Steyning Grammar School over three sites in Storrington (Rock Road), Upper Beeding (The Towers), and Steyning (Shooting Field).
A group called LZ7 who have a passion for young people, joined the team of local volunteers, they are part of the Iluminate tour. Their focus is on mental health, anti-bullying and youth suicide. LZ7 use the music to reach and inspire young people to never give up, to live their lives on purpose fulfilling their dreams of being the best version they can be.

Thanks to Steyning Methodist Church for opening their doors for the duration of the Mission Week as a Prayer Room. Thanks also to those who joined in the daytime and evening prayers to intercede for God to bless all the students and staff at Steyning Grammar School.
Building a Bridge into church family
We want to thank the Lord for all he did during the “Bridge” 5pm service @ Steyning Grammar School. The multi- generational community gathered together around fun, snacks and music to lift the spirits. Young people and families had a chance to chat over life’s important questions and go away inspired with biblical truth and hope for the everyday challenges of life.
This was a joint church venture with Chanctonbury Church, (Ashington, Washington and Buncton) 3 B’s Church (Beeding, Bramber and Botholph’s), Thakeham Parish Church and Storrington Community Church.
Church @ 5 was planned as a “pop-up” gathering which has now stopped.
This ran Every Sunday from 9 November – 14 December 2025
Then in 2026 from 11 January – 8 February 2026.
