Sustainability
Chanctonbury is committed to “Stewarding Eden” well
We are situated in the middle of the South Downs where we enjoy the beauty of God’s Creation all around us. And yet, we see the need to make real steps towards a more Creation-friendly lifestyle. The Eden Initiative Team works to bring change and awareness to what we are already doing as a church in order that we might be good stewards of the earth.
We’re an Eco Church
Eco Church is A Rocha UK’s award scheme for churches in England and Wales who want to demonstrate that the gospel is good news for God’s earth. Chanctonbury Church has received the “Bronze Award” in recognition for efforts to care for God’s earth in each of the following areas:
- Worship and Teaching
- Management of Buildings and Land
- Community and Global Engagement
- Lifestyle

Repair Café
Taking place in Ashington Church, our Repair Cafés are open to the public on the first Saturday of every other month (January, March, May, July, September & November). Bring in your small, unusable electrical items in need of simple repair, or textiles in need of mending. We look forward to helping you save these repairable items from landfill.
Bike Rack at Ashington church
As we encourage those able to walk and cycle to church in order to reduce emissions and energy use, we are also glad to welcome cyclists to make use of the bike rack at Ashington Church. The rack is behind the church on the west exterior wall.
