We are passionate about seeing children encounter the love of Father God, journeying with Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit and transforming the lives of everyone they meet.
Kids Church – Sundays
9am and 11am at Ashington
Kids Church runs alongside both our 9am and 11am services at Ashington. The sessions will be identical, so choose the one that suits you best.
We join in with the main service for the first 30 minutes before we meet outside to walk safely with the awesome Kids Team to the different venues. Kids Church runs in a number of venues in the village of Ashington, all within 2 mins walking distance to the church. Please see the age groups below to find out where your child/ren’s age groups meet!
A session at Kids Church will include a mix of worship, exploring the bible together, engaging with truth through drama and challenges, responding personally through creativity and prayer, building community in games and testimony sharing, and, most importantly, encountering God!
Kids Church – Groups
We have four different age groups that run on a Sunday.
Superstars – Ages 1-3 years*
Venue: Small Hall, Ashington Community Centre
Superstars available at the 9am at Ashington only.
Even the youngest of our church family are powerful, bright and carry the Kingdom. We are looking ahead to who they will become, and celebrating the Superstars they are now.
Heroes – Nursery* to Reception
Venue: Ashington School
As Heroes of the faith, our kids will be equipped to release the power of heaven to impact and change the world around them.
Warriors – School Years 1-3
Venue: Ashington School
Equipping the kids to stand tall, as Father God gives them bravery and insight to make them powerful Warriors in the Kingdom of God.
Legends – School Years 4-6
Venue: Ashington School
Growing in confidence and spreading God’s love with powerful prayers and abandoned joy wherever they go, they will become known as Legends in the land!
*We recommend children stay in Superstars until they are one year away from starting school. Children moving to Heroes before this time often find the session structure of the next group up difficult as they are not used to the structures and expectations found there.
On the fourth Sunday of the month, Kids Church finishes slightly earlier as the children go back to church to join in with holy communion.
Thrive Ministry
Making Church Accessible for All.
At Chanctonbury we understand that both church and Kids’ Church may be a little tricky for some, and we want to help make it more accessible. We have a team to help with kids who need extra support to be able to access Kids’ Church. Please do get in touch if you feel your child could do with some support.
We also want to support the families of children with SEND as we understand that having a child with additional needs can be hard work. We look forward to hearing from you!
For more information, please email thrive@chanctonbury.org.uk.
Discipleship Groups
Our mid-week Discipleship Groups are a great opportunity to grow in friendship, explore God deeper and spend time together.
Schools
We have strong links to our two parish Church of England primary schools – Ashington and Washington.
We host and lead regular assemblies at both schools, help lead and plan end-of-term services that are hosted at the church, and often go in to help with RE lessons.
Click here for more information about the parish schools.
For more information, email kids@chanctonbury.org.uk.
Toddler Groups
We have two toddler groups that meet in the parish and are open to all parents/carers of children, babies to preschoolers. They are free to join and you don’t need to sign up, so feel free to come along!
Shining Stars in Ashington and Little Lambs in Washington both offer group play, song time and a warm welcome for all.
Shining Stars: Mondays during term time, 9:30-11am at Ashington Church.
Team Leader: Katie Smith
Little Lambs: Every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month from 10.00-11.30am during term time.
Team Leaders: Sarah Donswijk, Holly Swarbrick and Pam Thomas
