Supernatural

The supernatural is the reality of God’s Kingdom breaking into our world. At Chanctonbury, we believe that ‘heaven is here,’ and we seek to live with an expectation for the miraculous everyday.  In heaven there is no pain and sickness.

This means we believe that God still heals, still performs miracles, and still speaks to us today.

Hebrews 11:1: Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. So although we physically cannot see God with our eyes, when we choose to put our faith in Jesus, we can be assured that His holy spirit and power lives in us!

Mark 16:17-18: And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons: they will speak in new tongues

Here’s an inspiring story from Acts – which can also be a reality today…

 Acts 3:1-10

One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. 2 Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, “Look at us!” 5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.6 Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. 8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. 9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

While we expect the supernatural to be a normal part of our Christian experience, we also live in the tension of the ‘not yet’, acknowledging that for some reason, we do not always see the miraculous as we expect. With hope, ‘poured into us through the Holy Spirit’, we wait for the day when God’s kingdom will be fully revealed and every wrong will be made right.

 Revelation 21:1-4

21 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,”[a] for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’[b] or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

Supernatural healing

Here’s an example of the supernatural healing power of Jesus for one of the members of Chanctonbury church.  This was several years ago now – but the great news is Sally walks in total divine health several years on.
